* if you wish to wear the garment whilst sleeping
* if you use a convex appliance.
* if you are in discomfort or pain.
* if you are pregnant.
* if a drain is situated in the area which will be compressed.
Also consult your stoma care nurse if whilst using your garment:
* your bowel function changes.
* if you have gained weight and the garment feels small
Tests show that pressure on the stomach can make the stoma protrude and become extended. This is more likely to happen when a garment with a hole cut out (for a stoma appliance) is worn, as the area immediately around the stoma is less supported.
